How to Make An Award-Winning Brand Video
Award-winning? Again? Yes! Vox Pops International won at The Telly Awards, an annual showcase of the best work created within television and across video. Receiving 13,000 entries globally, it is proudly announced that silver awards were won in both the ‘Corporate Image’ and ‘Public Relations’ categories.
As expert storytellers with video, we’re so proud that our first full brand video production for our client Happy Egg was recognised in this space. We utilised our expertise in people-powered stories, told with care, high quality and strategic thinking. Here’s our guide on how to make an effective brand video, using principles from our award-winning video!
Effective storytelling comes from people
For Happy Egg, the brief was given to us to highlight their unique heritage egg product. But, what made this video impactful was the untold origin story behind the signature product.
That story was started not with a marketing message, but with a person; Ludwig Hölzl, the man behind the breeding of the Heritage hens. His daughter Lisa, was chosen as our storyteller, providing heartfelt insight into her father’s philosophy and the passion he had for these unique high-quality eggs. Her interview formed the emotional centre of the video.
By focusing on real voices and lived experience, an authentic story was told. The voices of the people behind the eggs were used as the hook for the video, creating a compelling story and truly reflecting their family values.
At Vox Pops International, all our videos are made insight-led with people at the centre. Whether vox pops or video diaries are used, stories are told through people. That’s how videos are made relatable and memorable.
Most of our clients use video because of its memorability, read our 2025 Video In Business Survey to find out more.
Keep it simple but high quality
A small team was sent to Happy Egg’s original Heritage parent farms – 3 to be exact! A videographer, a producer and a director.
Keeping the crew compact made us agile and collaborative. It allowed us to work around the Hölzl’s family availability, and in the farm which is still people’s workplace, with limited disruption. We could be flexible with our crew so that no one was disturbed but it still captured real environments.
Despite the small crew, we brought our top-tier equipment. We produced a simple but high-quality video which also was integral for telling the origin story of Happy Egg’s flagship product.
Build strategy into cinematography
The success of this video’s storytelling wasn’t just in the story, but in how we told it. Combining B-roll, archival footage and the interview, we made sure the visual elements were secondary to the brand story that we were telling.
Every shot was chosen strategically to deepen the story, reinforce the quality of the product, and evoke emotion.
We ensured the quality of the product, such as the rich yolks and unique eggshells, was captured alongside the interviews, so that their product wasn’t lost in the video. Even the scenic shots of the pasture weren’t just there for beauty; they demonstrated the chickens’ freedom and the farm’s values in action. Every frame was crafted with intention, so the final video felt not only visually rich, but also deeply aligned with the brand’s identity and legacy.
Conclusion
Winning a Telly Award for our work with Happy Egg is not just a proud moment for us, it’s a testament to the power of authentic storytelling, strategic thinking, and high-quality production. At Vox Pops International, we believe that the most impactful brand videos aren’t just beautifully shot, they’re rooted in real people, real stories, and real insight.
This campaign is seen as an example of what we do best: creating insight-led content that connects emotionally, reflects brand values, and delivers results.
